BY INVITATION ONLY: Secur.Ports: Organised Crime, Security and Policing in Seaports
This workshop will bring together selected experts, practitioners and academics to discuss practical cases, best practice, challenges and reforms related to organised crime and port security in their port of reference. Delegates will hail from a number of different authorities, including law enforcement and port security authorities.
Thematic sessions will cover outlooks from North America, Europe, Australia and Africa with discussion topics including:
- The evolution of maritime and port security;
- Policing the waterfront;
- Organised crime, trafficking and smuggling;
- Criminal opportunities in port administration, economy, and business;
- Border control and cross-border investigations.
This workshop is organised by the University of Essex and sponsored by the British Academy – with the support of Ghent University, the Research Foundation Flanders and the Strategic Hub for Organised Crime Research at RUSI.
