Dean is currently working as a lecturer in policing for Babcock International and the University of West London. With nearly 19 years’ experience in law enforcement, including roles in response, community policing, counter terrorism and national security, Dean has vast operational experience in addition to holding a range of academic and professional certifications in counter terrorism.

As well as achieving a first-class BSc (Hons) in Policing, Dean is a qualified police trainer, having completed both the Police Training Roles Learning and Development Programme (PTRLDP) and the Level 3 Award in Education and Training. As a proactive driver of continuous improvement, Dean devised and delivered a five-day induction training course to consecutive cohorts of counter-terrorism officers working at a major airport. He was also invited to deliver Module 1 of Aviation Security Manager Course, ‘The Threat to Aviation’, to multiple commercial partners. Moreover, Dean devised and delivered counter terrorism awareness training to more than 300 airport security staff over a three-year period.

Dean has so far contributed a case study to the Blackstone’s Handbook for Policing Students, and an article to a national police publication. In 2020, Dean was awarded a chief constable’s commendation for innovation.
