Alex Chung is a Research Associate working on a cybersecurity project in the School of Law and Politics at Cardiff University. He is also a Research Collaborator on the One Belt One Road Programme in the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford.
As a former Research Associate in Policing Studies at London Metropolitan University, Alex has examined human smuggling in the UK and has delivered lectures to the MSc in Criminology class on topics concerning organised crime and mafias. He has been invited to roundtable workshops at the European Commission and the European Parliament on the topics of terrorism and policy-making. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute and a Trustee of the International Association of the Study of Organized Crime. He is also a research member of the Foundation for Law, Justice and Society and the Best Practices of Consumer Redress project for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development.
Alex holds a DPhil in Law, an MPhil in Criminology, and an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Oxford. He is currently working on publishing a monograph on an ethnic-Chinese drug trafficking network with Palgrave Macmillan. In addition, he has an MSc in Forensic Archaeology from Bournemouth University and a BSc in Physical Anthropology from the University of Toronto.
