Dr Gernot Klantschnig

Gernot Klantschnig is Senior Lecturer in Social Policy/Crime and Coordinator of the MA in Global Crime and Justice at the University of York, UK. His research focuses on the politics of drugs and their control, organised crime and policing in West Africa, as well as China’s growing engagement with Africa.

He is the author of Crime, Drugs and the State in Africa: The Nigerian Connection (Leiden: Brill/RoL 2013) and co-editor (with Neil Carrier and Charles Ambler) of Drugs in Africa: Histories and Ethnographies of Use, Trade and Control (New York: Palgrave 2014).
