John is a lecturer in law at the University of Sussex. His research interests centre around terrorism and criminal justice reform in post-conflict states. He has worked as an independent expert adviser on counter terrorism for the UN and in 2016 received funding from ESRC to undertake a collaborative project with the UNODC Terrorism Prevention Branch addressing legal protections for victims of terrorism in Afghanistan.
John is currently undertaking research on the links between organised crime and terrorism.
