Dr Simon Sneddon has been teaching at the University of Northampton since 2000, with his primary research and teaching interests lying in the areas of Organised Crime and Environmental Law. He has led an undergraduate module on Organised Crime since 2003 and a postgraduate module since 2007. From 2006-13, Dr Sneddon led an undergraduate module on Terrorism.
In 2018-19 he was part of the team which produced the UNODC E4J materials on Firearms, and is currently co-editing a book on Firearms Crime which will be published by Routledge in 2021. In terms of Wildlife Crime, he has presented papers on the links between trafficking and species extinction, as well as the links between domestic consumption and trafficking.
Dr Sneddon is the convenor of the Environmental Law Subject section for the Society of Legal Scholars and co-convenor of the Organised Crime stream for the SocioLegal Studies Association.
