Dr Vincenzo Scalia

Researcher

Vincenzo Scalia was born and brought up in Palermo, Sicily. He graduated at the University of Bologna. He has taught in different universities in Italy (Macerata, Bologna, Palermo, Padova, Pisa), the UK  (Anglia Ruskin), and Argentina (Universidad del Museo Social) both in undergraduate and in postgraduate courses. He is currently Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Winchester. Vincenzo has worked with the Emilia Romagna local administration on urban security and organised crime policies, and has been an observer of Italian Prisons for the Associazione Antigone since 2001.

He has published several research reports, as well as three books and more than 40 articles in Italian, English, Turkish and Spanish. His latest books, Crime, Networks and Power. The Structural Transformation of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra, was published in 2016 by Palgrave Pivot.
