Peter Toogood

Peter Toogood  is a former Detective Superintendent who now works as a Senior Commercial Consultant following a thirty-year policing career between 1991 and 2021 in the Metropolitan Police Service and National Counter Terrorism HQ. Peter has worked across the Criminal Investigation Department, Specialist Operations / Crime and Counter Terrorism in diverse roles including pro-active syndicates, investigation, intelligence, training, project management, change management, confidential review, covert policing and operational support.

These roles have included deployments to Jamaica, the USA, Greece, the Czech Republic, the Hague and China; the latter as a CT liaison officer at the Beijing Olympics of 2008. He has also performed the role of ‘on call – Late Senior’ for SO15 Counter Terrorism Command managing ‘out of hours’ response to emerging threats and deployment of resources pan London, nationally and liaison internationally. Peter was also the most senior interlocutor with Whitehall during ‘out of hours’ critical incidents in the UK and abroad up to and including terrorist related kidnap and murder.

Peter is a qualified and experienced RIPA ‘Authorising Officer’ supporting high risk counter terrorism operations. He is currently engaged with a master’s degree programme at the University of Buckingham Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies on ‘Covert Action, HUMINT and the psychology of intelligence elicitation.’ He is also the Director of a commercial enterprise called ‘Neon Caltrop Consulting Ltd.’
