Reynell Badillo holds a BA in International Relations from the Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla, Colombia) and a MSc in International Studies from the Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia).
His academic research is focused on politicization of criminal organizations, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime in Latin America, and Colombian armed conflict. He serves as a Research Fellow at the Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla, Colombia). His work has been published in journals as Global Crime, Co-Herencia and Análisis Político. He has written two books about organized crime and armed conflict in Colombia, available here. Reynell works as a humanitarian analyst for ACAPS and he is a member of the network of experts of La Silla Vacía, a Colombian news website.
