Vanessa Fusco Nogueira Simões’ professional experience includes criminal investigations and lawsuits, cybercrime, and cybersecurity governance.
She is Public Prosecutor with 33 years of experience in criminal investigations in various cases such as fraud, identity theft, money laundering, organized crime, sexual exploitation of children through online technologies and human trafficking. She is currently the Coordinator of the Security and Intelligence of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Minas Gerais.
In the Intelligence area, she is Representative of the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais in the National Group to Combat Criminal Organizations – GNOCOC as Intelligence Coordinator; – Representative of the MPMG in the State Intelligence System – Minas Gerais; and Coordinator of the intelligence area in the Public Ministry Agreement of the Southeast Region of Brazil.
She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Barcelona and has served as an expert in UNODC working groups (Study on Effects of New Information Technologies on the Abuse and Exploitation of Children, Vienna, 2011) and INTERPOL (Computer facilitating crimes Against children ,South America Group, Lyon France 2013). In addition, she is an instructor at two traveling schools: South School of Internet Governance and International Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
