Alexander Babuta is a Research Analyst in the National Security and Resilience department at RUSI. His research focuses on policing and security in the digital age, in particular the use of big data, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. He also conducts research on a range of topics related to transnational organised crime, including cross-border trafficking of drugs and other commodities, illicit trade in tobacco, alcohol and pharmaceuticals, and the illegal wildlife trade. He holds an MSc with Distinction in Crime Science from University College London (UCL), where his dissertation explored the use of data science methods for risk assessment of missing children. He also holds a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from UCL. Prior to joining the institute, Alexander worked for a Member of Parliament.
